A designer who builds

I'm Ian Malone. I design and build across screens and paper: products, brands, and print. And I shoot photos everywhere I go. The thread that ties it together is making things that feel considered, all the way down.

I work end to end. Interface design and user flows in Figma, then building the real thing in React Native and on the web. Lately that's meant Mega, an app for climbers, and The Dirtbag Rag, a 90 page magazine I designed cover to cover.

My process is hands on and fast. I sketch, prototype, and ship, then refine against how it actually feels to use. I care about the small stuff, the spacing and the motion and the way a page breathes, because that's usually what separates fine from great.
